Trombone Shorty and friends Doctor John, Gary Clark Jr., Janelle Monae, and Earth, Wind & Fire electrify the crowd during halftime of the 2014 NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans.


Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue joined Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Madonna, Queen Latifah, Mary Lambert and 33 couples being married on stage for a historic highlight of this year’s Grammy Awards. It was a huge weekend for Trombone Shorty, starting with his appearance on Conan, as well as joining the All Star cast of stars saluting Carole King as the Musicares Person of the Year, then selling out concerts in two different LA venues on Friday and Saturday and ending with participation in the world broadcast of the special Grammy moment.

Trombone Shorty dominated in this past week’s OffBeat Magazine Best of the Beat Awards, taking home 7 of the awards including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (for Say That To Say This), Song of the Year (for Fire And Brimstone), Best R&B/Funk Artist, Best R&B/Funk Album (for Say That To Say This), Best Trombonist, and Best Music Video (for Fire And Brimstone, directed by Brandan “B-Mike” Odums).

Trombone Shorty Music Academy On ABC World News With Diane Sawyer, Plus Shorty Also Featured On Regis Philbin’s Crowd Goes Wild On Fox Sports 1

The Trombone Shorty Music Academy was featured on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer on December 17, 2013 at 6:30pm ET. The feature highlighted the efforts of the Trombone Shorty Foundation’s nearly year-long partnership with Tulane University which mentors intercity New Orleans youth in music performance and music business. Trombone Shorty also just appeared on Regis Philbin’s new show on Fox Sports 1, Crowd Goes Wild. Trombone Shorty’s feature aired on December 16, 2013 at 5:00pm ET.
